The Government of the Russian Federation, in the voice of Andréi Nastasins, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Foreign Ministry, condemned Germany's neocolonial attitude towards the Venezuelan elections, in which Nicolás Maduro was re-elected with 51% of the votes.

“The German Government masks its neocolonial attitude less and less,” said Nastasin, adding: “We are convinced that Venezuela does not need the protection of the German State at all and will be able to decide for itself how it should live and what to do.”

In this regard, he stressed that German diplomacy “has once again shown arrogance with respect to non-Western countries and contempt for the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign State (by requiring that Venezuela submit data from its electoral centers)”.

In addition, the deputy director of the Information and Press Department of the Foreign Ministry added that “it is not for the German authorities to teach others how they should organize the vote, so that they first learn to do it themselves.”

“President Nicolás Maduro's victory is sealed. The People of Venezuela made their choice,” he stressed and urged that the decision of Venezuelans must be respected and that unfounded accusations and attempts to influence in any way the future course of the country's political situation must cease.
