Last Monday, the Russian ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Vasili Nebenzia, stated that the lack of direct response from the General Secretariat of the United Nations to the Ukrainian attack carried out on Sunday against the city of Sevastopol, on the Crimean peninsula, demonstrates the organization's double standards.

The deputy official representative of the UN Secretary General, Farhan Hak, previously avoided directly condemning the attack on the Russian media Sputnik, although he regretted the casualties among the civilian population during the hostilities.

“We are not surprised that the Western media are silent in the face of this tragedy. They are not interested in the lives of Russian civilians. Even more regrettable is the lack of any meaningful response from the UN Secretariat, which must oppose such obvious crimes and violations of international law. It's a clear example of the double standards of the UN General Secretariat,” added the Russian ambassador.

The diplomat highlighted the participation of the United States (USA) in the attack on the city and stated that Washington and Western countries incite Kiev to commit attacks against civilians.

“I think this topic will be discussed during the next regular briefing on Ukraine, which will definitely be held in July,” Nebenzia said.
