During a press conference held this Thursday, the spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, harshly criticized the attitude of the Ukrainian government to the peace negotiations taking place in the city of Istanbul in Türkiye. According to the diplomat, the Ukrainian government is more interested in the media spectacle than in a real solution to the conflict.

Kiev's rhetoric is clearly aimed at manipulating public perception,” Zakharova said. He also analyzed that the Ukrainian government tries to present itself as committed to peace, when in reality its actions and words are constantly contradicted. “One day they say one thing, the next they deny it. This doesn't contribute to the process.”

Zakharova's reaction comes after the talks, which were initially scheduled for the morning, were postponed to the afternoon at the initiative of the Turkish side.

This change coincided with a set of contradictory statements coming from the office of the leader of the Kiev regime, Volodymir Zelensky, which Moscow interprets as a strategy of distraction.
