The Russian ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, pointed out that the United States maintains a colonial policy because it does not want to recognize the results of the elections in the South American country.

“Even before the elections in Venezuela, the United States said that they would not tolerate the re-election of Nicolás Maduro. The principle of whether or not to recognize elections in an independent country is a clear manifestation of colonial politics,” he emphasized during an interview with the Sputnik news agency.

In addition, he warned that in Venezuela, the right wing insists on repeating the scenario executed by Juan Guaidó with some modifications while urging respect for the expression of the Venezuelan people.

“You have to respect it. But it seems that this approach is alien to Washington,” he said.
