Russian Government confirms participation in second round of negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul

The government of President Vladimir Putin in the Russian Federation officially confirmed that his delegation of negotiators will leave for Türkiye to participate in the second round of bilateral negotiations with Ukraine, to be held on June 2 in Istanbul.
The announcement was made by Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov, who also specified that the Russian and Ukrainian memos will be discussed behind closed doors and will not be made public.
“Our delegation leaves for Istanbul and will be ready on June 2,” Peskov said, stressing that the immediate objective is to continue the process of direct negotiations with Kiev.
For his part, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavro v, confirmed that Moscow has already prepared its draft memorandum and expects to present it during the negotiating round.
“All those who really want the peace process to succeed, not just in words, should welcome this second round,” Lavrov said after having a conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.
