After five days in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the detachment of military ships from the Russian Northern Fleet left the coast of La Guaira this Saturday to continue its assigned tasks in the Atlantic Ocean.

After passing through Cuba, the Fota composed of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the medium-sized oil tanker Akademik Pashin arrived in the South American country on Tuesday, and on Friday, July 5, the members of the ships participated in the civic-military parade to commemorate the Venezuelan Independence Day.

The Russian ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, was at the farewell ceremony with Admiral Neil Villamizar Sánchez, commander general of the Bolivarian Navy, in addition to the commanders of the country's Air Force and Anti-Aircraft Defense.

The Russian diplomat described the visit of the detachment of the Eurasian country to the Latin American nation as a vivid demonstration of the solid friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries, RT reports on its website.
