The permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN), Vasili Nebenzia, condemned Israel's recent attack on Iran and noted that military action represents a serious threat to regional stability. “It pushes the entire region toward a full-scale nuclear catastrophe,” he said.
Initially, the UN Security Council planned to discuss the humanitarian consequences of the attacks in the Gaza Strip. However, the escalation of the conflict led to a new discussion about the Israeli offensive. Nebenzia called the operation an “irresponsible adventure” and warned that it could trigger a crisis of great magnitude.
The Russian diplomat emphasized that such actions aggravate the situation in the Middle East and increase the risk of destabilization. According to Nebenzia, the international community must act to prevent a major conflict and its potential global repercussions.
Russia reiterated its position in favor of stability and the search for diplomatic solutions to mitigate the crisis. The country called for a halt to the escalation and to avoid a scenario that would compromise international security.
The Security Council continues to evaluate Israel's attack on Iran and the impact of recent clashes, while different countries express concern about the potential repercussions of the conflict in the region.
