SAIME denies impediments to traveling within the country with an expired ID

The Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Aliens (SAIME) denied, through the social network Instagram, the mandatory use of the current ID card to travel within the country.

In this regard, the institution clarified that “any Venezuelan who requires traveling by area within the country must present their Identity Card as their main personal identification document , whether it is valid or expired.”

He also indicated that “it is not allowed to present Passports, nor a copy of the ID, Driver's License or Institutional Licenses.”

The SAIME clarification is based on the information line of different airlines, which state that, on instructions from the body that guarantees the identity of Venezuelans, the expired ID card would not be accepted for domestic travel.
