The mayor of the Simón Bolívar municipality in San Francisco de Yare, Saúl Rafael Yánez, announced that the festival of Corpus Christi 2026 kicked off this Wednesday in the town's main church, marking the beginning of one of the most popular and expected devotional events in the region, attracting thousands of parishioners.
“This year we will have a farewell to the bishop of Naiguatá, Alberto Castillo, and he has requested that the devils of Naiguatá and Tarma, La Guaira arrive at Yare,” explained Mayor Yánez, at the same time he explained that this celebration mystically represents the triumph of good over evil, consolidating itself as a living heritage that passes from generation to generation.
The mayor stressed that this international status commits the municipal government and the bearers of tradition to safeguard the purity of each ritual, ensuring that the activities maintain their sacred and communal character to ensure the safety of the attendees.
The Dancing Devils of Yare constitute one of the most representative cultural and religious manifestations in the country, a symbol of popular devotion and Venezuelan heritage, transmitted from generation to generation for centuries.
