Sanjuaneros de Aragua meet at the Teatro de la Ópera de Maracay to share knowledge

Sanjuaneros from the different brotherhoods of the state of Aragua met this Sunday at the Teatro de la Ópera de Maracay to share knowledge for the celebration of Saint John's Day on the 24th of June.

Nicolás González, Secretary of Culture of the Government of Aragua, explained that the day was held with the participation of members of all the associations of San Juan in the entity with the objective of holding the Good Practices Workshop and socializing the right ways to live this cultural and religious tradition of the state.

Cultivators and Sanjuaneros from Turiamo, Choroní, Aponte, Cumboto, Las Monjas, Ocumare, Cata and Cuyagua participated , who shared their techniques of touching, bleeding and mermaid songs that honor San Juan and his spirituality,

“In this training workshop we have the members of the brotherhoods of San Juan from the villages of the coasts. Here we listen and observe how this cultural event that we will be celebrating in the next few days is played, danced and sung,” said González.

The feast of San Juan Bautista is one of the most important religious and cultural events in Venezuela. This celebration was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the Unesco In December 2021.
