In order to reinforce knowledge in forensic toxicology, staff from the National Service of Forensic Medicine and Sciences (SENAMECF) received a talk on drug analysis.

The activity was led by Karibay Rivas, director of the area, who gave a presentation called “Global Trends in Drug Analysis: Experience and Technologies Applied from Singapore”.

On its Instagram account, SENAMECF published a report of the day, which was held at the Zotero Pérez Izquierdo Auditorium, located at the institution's headquarters, with the presence of its director, Lissett Moreno, and others.

Rivas shared the main lessons learned during the specialized course he took in the Asian country with experts in the field.

He explained the technological innovations observed in Singapore, with special emphasis on the use of high-resolution mass spectrometry and rapid screening techniques, tools that allow the identification of emerging substances with greater precision and in a shorter time.

He also reiterated that international cooperation and technological updating are essential to strengthen research and the fight against drug trafficking.
