This Monday, the Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, condemned on behalf of the government chaired by Pedro Sánchez the Israeli attacks against Lebanon and described the action as a “shame for humanity”.

“Right now, (in) Lebanon we have a situation that is a shame for humanity. Almost a million people have been displaced, the risk of a land invasion by Israel in a sovereign country, and that would be a huge mistake,” the official said, as quoted by Sputnik.

This is not the first time that the Spanish Government has emphasized its position on respect for international law and independent and sovereign countries.

Albares rejected the attack on patrols of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) three times in the Lebanese towns of Burj Qalawiya, Deir Kifa and Yater, where a Spanish contingent is participating.

The “attacks on a United Nations force, on a peace force in which there is a significant Spanish contingent, such as UNIFIL, and a systematic violation of international humanitarian law,” Albares said.
