The disappearance of the ten members of the Global Sumud Maghreb humanitarian convoy has generated deep international concern after being intercepted by military forces in the region of Eastern Libya.
This group, which was part of a larger logistics mission comprised of hundreds of people, was held at a checkpoint near the city of Sirte as they made their way to the Gaza Strip to deliver essential medical supplies and ambulances for the Palestinian population.
The lack of communication with activists, including Argentinian, Uruguayan and other European and American citizens, has lasted for more than forty-eight hours since the incident.
Family members and humanitarian organizations have expressed their desperation at the secrecy of local authorities, who so far have not provided verifiable information on the state of health or the exact whereabouts of the people being held.
Given the seriousness of the events, the information portal NODAL has filed a formal complaint with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, demanding immediate intervention to guarantee the physical integrity and release of the members of the convoy.
This call to the international community seeks to push for proof of life and to ensure that the fundamental rights of those who were carrying out humanitarian assistance work are respected.
In parallel, various diplomatic efforts have been activated through the foreign ministries of the affected countries, including specific efforts by the Argentine authorities to coordinate consular actions.
The situation remains critical and constant vigilance is maintained by international human rights organizations, which continue to monitor the development of events in a highly unstable and complex regional context.
