The general coordinator of the Bolivarian Socialist Workers' Central (CBST), Carlos López, stressed that preparations are progressing for the III Congress of the Working Class, which will take place this Wednesday, August 6.

“We will be holding a debate from August to early October to discuss various issues about the working class across the country,” he said during an interview on the program Café en La Mañana, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

In that sense, he pointed out that it will be a debate, “from the grassroots of the unions, productive centers and then the state congresses that will land in a large plenary session scheduled to take place between October 15 and 16, which will be put to the vote the conclusions of the two months of debate, where we will also adapt the statutes to the new reality and the incorporation of young people into these spaces.”

“Our headquarters must be brought forward and at this congress three very important issues will be discussed: first, the reconfiguration of capitalism; second, the multipolar world and third, the new forms of communication, which will be evaluated to develop a new structure, which will allow the working class to emerge and overcome the aggressions of the extreme right,” he explained.

On the other hand, he mentioned the progressive recovery of the oil industry and indicated that “this allows the Bolivarian State to strengthen public finances, which provides tools to overcome the state of aggression against the salaries of civil servants after the imposition of sanctions.”

He also reported that currently collective agreements cover approximately 4 million workers in contractual benefits, and one million in the payroll, as well as 1,200 unions, which constitute a fundamental role in the organization of the working class.
