In order to move towards strengthening social peace, the Special Commission for the Law of Amnesty and Democratic Coexistence, this Tuesday, February 10, held a meeting with families of citizens deprived of their liberty, to listen to their proposals and continue building mechanisms of understanding.
During the day, the president of the above-mentioned Commission, Jorge Arreaza, highlighted the historical importance of these processes for the stability of the country.
In his speech, he recalled as a fundamental precedent the amnesty law enacted by Commander Hugo Chávez Frías in 2007, stressing that the spirit of these measures seeks the healing and unity of the nation.
Arreaza called for honesty and mutual commitment as indispensable requirements for the process to bear fruit. “I am sure that you will do your best to make this happen, but for that we must understand each other and be frank,” he said.
He emphasized that through this instance, the objective is to reach all the necessary consensus to be able to build the Venezuela of the future.
This meeting is part of the work agenda of the Special Commission, which will continue in session to channel proposals that contribute to democratic coexistence and the general well-being of the Venezuelan people.
On the other hand, in Falcón state, deputies of the National Assembly (AN), together with representatives of various sectors of society, held the public consultation of the Amnesty Bill for Democratic Coexistence.
During the day, the contributions and observations of citizens on this legal instrument were collected, which seeks to open the way to a new political phase in the country, based on understanding, reconciliation and democratic coexistence.
