The Syrian Minister for Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh, announced that most of the forest fires in the province of Latakia were neutralized, with the exception of two active sources located in mountainous areas of Jabal Turkmen.

He specified that one of the sources is in a valley accessible only by air, while the other is located on a slope with the presence of mines, which prevents the deployment of ground units. During the day, explosions were reported in that area, with no injuries recorded among the extinguishing personnel.

Al-Saleh indicated that collaboration is continuing with several countries, including some European countries and Iraq, to strengthen air operations. Türkiye was the first to respond, sending tankers, specialized vehicles and ground support equipment. Brigades from Jordan and Lebanon are also participating, along with resources from the Syrian Ministry of Defense.

According to official estimates, the fire has consumed at least 13,000 hectares of vegetation and agricultural areas in northern Latakia.
