The poet and attorney general of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, celebrated 45 years of literary life at the 20th Venezuelan International Book Fair (FILVEN) Carabobo, located at the Valencia Museum of Culture, with the presentation of his books and a discussion about his career as a poet.

Saab was accompanied by the governor of the state of Carabobo, Rafael Lacava; the national guest writer Antonio Trujillo; the director of Vadell Hermanos, Valentina Vadell, and the professor Christian Román Farías Aguilar.

During his speech, Governor Lacava highlighted the great career of the revolutionary poet Tarek William Saab. “It has left a mark on this country and a literary mark,” he stressed.

“I come to highlight my friend Tarek, the 'Poet of the Revolution', that poet who, when he was 23 years old, had already published his first book: The Rivers of Wrath,” he said.

Lacava also stressed that every society must have a group of poets, because poetry is a kind of eye drops for the soul “and you poets have given eye drops to this society,” he added.

He also praised Saab for his 45 years of literary life and continuing to write despite his responsibilities to the State, in his positions of governor, ombudsman, parliamentarian and current prosecutor. “And the fact that you have never abandoned this profession is because you are genetically a true poet,” he emphasized, in addition to highlighting his life as a defender of human rights and justice.

Poetry saves

For his part, the poet Tarek William Saab thanked FILVEN for its exceptional support for promoting reading with the motto “Reading transforms” and for continuing his journey through all the states of the country to reach every corner of Venezuela.

He invited the public to take advantage of the digital age to show art, literature, culture and to instill good values in the children and young people of Venezuelan society. During his speech, he narrated some of the experiences of his youth and assured that poetry can save people, especially in those moments without direction in life or with a depressive condition.

He commented that thanks to the initiative of Commander Hugo Chávez, continued by President Nicolás Maduro, these spaces are created to reach the reader with books at affordable prices, to distribute and disseminate the works of new authors and to promote the habit of reading.

An honor to publish Saab

Valentina Vadell , from the publisher Vadell Hermanos Editores, was honored to contribute to the publication of the books of the poet Tarek William Saab together with other publishing labels such as Monte Ávila Editores.

“It is a real honor and a blessing for Vadell Hermanos to contribute together with other labels such as Monte Ávila Editores in the 45 years of Tarek's literary life,” he said.

The celebration of 45 years of literary life of the Attorney General was also attended by Nancy de Lacava; the mayor of the municipality of Valencia, Diana Castillo; the State Secretary of Culture, Nathaly Bustamante, and other government authorities.
