The group Teatro de la Penumbra will revive the award-winning play This is Salem under the direction of Andreina Polidor, from June 11 to 21 at the Alberto de Paz y Mateos Theater in Caracas. The piece invites the public to reflect on power, educational systems and current social structures.

The montage is a deconstruction of Arthur Miller's famous play The Witches of Salem and touches on themes present in the original piece, such as: power, indoctrination, education, witchcraft and persecution.

The cast responsible for bringing this award-winning aesthetic experience to life is made up of actors Sai-ma Rada, José Alberto Briceño, Douglas Suniaga, Bethania Yánez and Jorbel Ruiz, who faced images that confronted them with their own lives. This deep exploration of the cast was the fundamental basis of the game between fiction and truth for the acting process.

An aesthetic proposal

The production has been recognized by specialized critics and stood out at the eighth edition of the Isaac Chocrón Awards, where it won the awards for Best Production, Best Scenic Author and Best Female Actress. In addition, the proposal won the Best Makeup Award of the Venezuelan Association of Theater Critics and the Youth Award in the Digital Stage Competition of Cultural Trasnocho, successes that consolidate the excellence of her scenic research.
