The Bolivarian Government is making progress in implementing the Chuquisaca National Reforestation Plan, an environmental strategy that contemplates the planting of forest, medicinal and fruit species specific to each region, with the objective of restoring ecosystems and strengthening the protection of natural resources.

This was announced by the Minister for Ecosocialism, Freddy Ñáñez, who explained that the program is developed under ecological criteria adapted to each territory, prioritizing native species in accordance with the characteristics of the ecosystems of the East, the Andes, the Llanos and other regions of the country, according to a note from Radio Nacional de Venezuela.

“All reforestation has to be reforestation with indigenous criteria... What is going to be planted in the East has to do with the ecosystem of the East, what is going to be planted in the Andes has to do with that ecosystem,” he said.

He also indicated that reforestation is part of a long-term policy that involves organized communities, public institutions and environmental movements. At the same time, he highlighted the incorporation of technological tools to strengthen early warning systems and forest fire prevention.

Ñáñez indicated that 99% of registered forest fires are of human origin, so the Executive has reinforced preventive actions in protected areas such as the Henri Pittier National Park and the Waraira Repano National Park.

He recalled that the plan is part of the Chuquisaca Decree and takes as a reference the experience accumulated by the Tree Mission. In addition, he noted that they plan to develop the goal of reforestation in several stages, with planting days that are already being carried out in different states of the country, highlighting that the goal is to plant 10 million trees.
