The Cinemateca Nacional will broadcast live FIFA World Cup 2026 games

The National Cinemateca announced that it will broadcast live the 2026 Football World Cup, which will open this Thursday, June 11, with a double and special program that will take place in its theaters in Caracas.

From the room of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMA) you can enjoy the opening gala, followed by the opening match between the Mexican and South African teams, at 3:00 in the afternoon.

The institution attached to the Ministry of People's Power for Culture specified in a press release that, in this first phase, the program includes meetings that coincide with the regular schedule of the room. Later, it will be updated as the tournament progresses towards the qualifying rounds.

In addition, the Cinemateca prepared a thematic film exhibition in the Sala Margot Benacerraf, located at the National Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE), which begins this Wednesday with the cycle “Days for Football Fever”.

This program at UNEARTE will run until next Thursday, June 25, and includes the screening of eight outstanding productions inspired by this sport, ranging from commercial and independent cinema to documentaries. The cycle will open with the screening of the French feature film The Golden Ball (1994).

The games on the cards are: Thursday, June 11 (3:00 p.m.): Inauguration/ Mexico vs. South Africa; Sunday, June 14 (1:00 p.m.): Germany vs. Curaçao; Wednesday, June 17 (1:00 p.m.): Portugal vs. DR Congo; Saturday 20: Netherlands vs. Sweden: Sunday, June 21 (1:00 p.m.): Spain vs. Saudi Arabia and Saturday, June 27 (5:00 p.m.): Panama vs. England
