The poet Tarek William Saab invited me to the colloquium on popular Venezuelan architecture in homage to Fruto Vivas, which will take place on Wednesday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m., at the National Museum of Architecture, located on Avenida Bolívar. This academic and cultural activity is part of the strategic action plan of the Great Mission Viva Venezuela Mi Patria Querida, executed in conjunction with the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture.

The meeting will delve into the work of José Fructuoso Vivas (1928-2022), a renowned Tachirense creator considered one of the most influential professionals in the country's contemporary history for his innovative housing contributions. His design philosophy broke traditional schemes through the use of “structures of nature” and “trees for living”, concepts that combined the protection of the tropical ecosystem with construction solutions for popular sectors.

The technical and historical dissertation will be given by a panel of specialists composed of Domingo Acosta, Zuleiva Vivas, Héctor Vivas and Alejandro López, general director of the museum institution. The speakers will discuss the legacy and international projection of this visionary of sustainable architecture, whose emblematic work was the Flower of Hanover.
