The Venezuelan men's softball team defeated its counterpart from Peru by knockout with a score of 10 runs by 0 and thus added its second victory in the XIII Pan American Championship for Seniors in Monteria.
The match, played at the José
Gabriel Amín Manzur stadium, places the Venezuelan team as the lone leader of Group
B after having previously defeated the Canadian delegation and secured their ticket
in the next phase of the super round of the continental tournament.
With the bat, the Venezuelan Erwin Díaz stood out, he went 2-2 with
two home runs, three RBIs and two scored and José Dorante who scored 2-2.
Pitcher Manuel Heredia was credited with the
victory after completing a three-inning job without allowing hits or
runs, totaling seven strikeouts. For Peru, Roonly Silva bore the
defeat.
This Monday, Venezuela will close the opening round with the clash against the Colombian national team.
