The Ministry of Food plans to recover 416 locations from the public network by 2026

With the objective of strengthening the public food distribution and supply network in Caracas, the Ministry of Popular Power for Food is implementing an infrastructure recovery plan throughout the national territory.

The holder of the food portfolio, M/G Carlos Leal Tellería, provided the balance sheets of this operation and specified that the goal for this year 2026 contemplates the reopening of 416 public network establishments. Of this total, 158 infrastructures are already fully operational and rehabilitated thanks to the joint and coordinated effort with the productive committees.

As part of immediate actions to curb speculation in the speculative market, the National Executive held a total of 496 Sovereign Field Fairs this weekend.

This massive deployment guarantees the distribution of about 22,000 tons of food directly to communities, which represents a supply volume 40% greater than that registered by private sector businesses and markets. The initiative seeks to ensure timely access to basic food items through direct service programs and fixed points of sale coordinated by the People's Power.

In this regard, Minister Leal Tellería highlighted the impact of institutional programs and new forms of popular organization to lower the costs of basic products. “We are holding 496 Sovereign Field Fairs across the country, where more than 22,000 tons of food are being distributed. And to that are added the markets, the PdVales and now a new modality and initiative of our people: mobile warehouses; but above all at very supportive prices, below 40%, 60% and up to 70% off,” he explained.
