The National Government began work to recover the research centers of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), which were destroyed by the bombing of the United States on January 3, the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, said.
“We began the reconstruction of the Mathematics Center, the Physics Center, the Chemistry Center and each of the technological infrastructures that were affected during this imperial aggression. This is the work entrusted to us by the President in Charge, Delcy Rodríguez, and that science and technology contribute to the peace of the Venezuelan people,” he said.
In addition, according to a MINCYT press release, he emphasized that the work began after carrying out the respective investigations carried out by the security agencies of the Venezuelan State.
“Today, of course, we remember our martyrs, heroes and heroines, we ask God for eternal rest and that we accompany the people of Venezuela in faith and hope, that soon President Nicolás Maduro and Dr. Cilia (Flores) will return, we want them safe and sound, embraced with their people,” he said.
Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez recalled that this attack “threatened our sacred right to knowledge, to freedom of thought and to the scientific development of our country.”
“At this historic moment, we have to reconstruct what the science used for war wanted to destroy. The Venezuelan scientific community raises the flag of a science that pays tribute to life, to peace and to the stability of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” he added.
In this regard, he reiterated the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to do science at the service of the people, with a humanist character, and not at the service of war or foreign interests.
“Rebuilding can be more complex than destroying, but only in the unity of our researchers will we guarantee the peace, dignity and future of our country. Every brick we lift will be a symbol of resistance and hope for generations to come,” he concluded.
