Between January and May 2026, the National Government has delivered 178 health works across the country, including hospitals, Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI), Comprehensive Rehabilitation Rooms (SRI) and popular clinics.
This was reported by the Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado, who indicated that currently more than 130 additional projects are under way, as part of a comprehensive plan to strengthen the public care system.
In the area of direct care, the minister reported that cooperation with the private sector has allowed 1,955 highly complex surgical interventions to be performed.
In addition, 1,610 hemodynamic procedures have been performed (out of an annual goal of 2,500) and 538 pacemakers have been successfully implanted.
In the area of low-complexity surgeries, the balance sheet records 20,366 operations executed in an accelerated manner, together with a reinforcement in the distribution of medicines during the last trimester.
Alvarado, according to a press release from the health portfolio, reiterated that all these actions are part of the Plan for Health and Life 2026, a public policy aimed at strengthening the health system and mitigating the impact of economic sanctions on the most vulnerable sectors.
“Without health there is no life, this is the fundamental thing and must be the absolute priority of the national, regional and local government,” the minister concluded.
