The Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), through the National Scientific Seed Program, continues with the evaluation process of the more than fifteen hundred students selected for the second phase of the Venezuelan Astronomy Olympics (OVA) 2026.

The students, according to a press release, will face a new academic challenge and scientific exploration, after having participated in the theoretical and practical training period with specialized tutoring by experts from the Center for Research in Astronomy and Applied Technologies (CIDATA).

After the evaluation, the best grades will be chosen to complete the national phase that will make up the final selection that is estimated to represent Venezuela in the nineteenth edition of the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympics to be held in Vietnam, from September 25 to October 5, 2026.

On February 20, 2026, more than nine thousand applicants from all states demonstrated performance in the areas of cosmology, astrophysics and the observation of astronomy as a scientific science in the first theoretical and practical test.
