This Tuesday, the Labor Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, publicly stated his intention to formalize the recognition of the State of Palestine during the next United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for September, unless Israel takes “substantial measures” to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Among the demands, he added that the Zionist State publicly discard any plan to annex the West Bank and commit to a genuine and lasting peace process that will lead to a solution based on two states.
The British Government is one of the biggest sponsors of the Israeli occupation, and the year the British Palestinian Committee (BPC) established the depth of British military collaboration with Israel in the context of the United Kingdom's legal obligations with respect to “serious violations” by Israel of international humanitarian and human rights law.
