The United States (USA) will not be able to establish new bases in the Philippines within the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), signed by both nations, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
This Monday, the country's president, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. , during a forum he said that "the Philippines has no plan to open or establish more EDCA bases”.
The statements of the head of state come days after his meeting with the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, at which it became known that the president of the United States, Joe Biden, proposed to allocate 128 million dollars from the national budget of 2025 for 36 projects within the framework of the EDCA military pact.
Russia Today (RT), explained that the EDCA, signed in 2014, allows the US Army to build facilities and locate supplies, equipment and material within strategically located bases in the country.
