The Deputy Minister of Land Transport, Claudio Farías, announced that this Saturday, May 09, a massive event dedicated to the transportation sector will be held at the Polyhedron of Caracas: the Great Carrier's Fair, which will be progressively extended throughout the country, based on the network of Carrier Stores under the management of the National Urban Transport Fund Foundation (FONTUR), to advance the regularization and strengthening of this service.
In the program Café en la Mañana, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Farías highlighted that this day seeks to serve the carriers that have been most affected by the economic situation.
He stated that this initiative, which was born from joint work with urban transport unions, aims to strengthen the sector and be projected in all entities of the country.
During the activity, steering wheel professionals will be able to purchase essential supplies such as rubbers, batteries, oils and a wide range of spare parts. In addition to spare parts, the fair will have a full day where attendees can choose white line products, brown line products and food.
The Deputy Minister highlighted that previous meetings were held with national suppliers to ensure appropriate prices and a diversified offer of locally manufactured products.
The event will serve as a single point of attention, where various public entities will facilitate the processing of documents relevant to the sector. Public and private banks will also be present to advise interested parties.
In this regard, the Workers' Digital Bank (BDT) will offer credit options to facilitate the purchase of the supplies and products available at the fair.
For his part, the president of FONTUR, Gerardo Córcega, counted the presence of approximately 5,600 carriers in Caracas. Additionally, 75,000 urban transport units were inspected as part of the “Fontur Plan on the Street”, which involves supervisors who verify the condition of the vehicle fleet, in addition to their requirements for auto parts and spare parts.
At this point, Farías emphasized that the goal is to continue to incorporate domestic suppliers to strengthen care through FONTUR and ensure that carriers have the necessary tools to keep their units operating.
Farías also reported that the Single Electronic Travel System (SUVE) could be integrated into all public transport in Venezuela and praised the demonstrated efficiency of this payment mechanism.
“We are considering and examining the possibility of using it in public transport as well. Evolution is unstoppable and technology is something that is driving that evolution. There are many alternatives (...) we have been working from the Caracas Metro with SUVE, it is being used in the Valencia Metro, the Los Teques Metro and the Railway,” he said.
