Venezuela will participate with three high-level athletes in the Brasilia 2026 World Athletic Walking Championship, an event that will bring together the universal stars of the specialty, next Sunday, April 12.
The joust will take place in the capital of Brazil and will be the first time that athletes compete in the new standard half marathon and marathon running distances established for the adult category in a world series event.
The national team is led by Milángela Rosales and Jeferson Chacón as the exponents with the most international experience. The Mirandino Gabriel González is also part of the emerging talent in this type of athletics. In addition, Pedro Marquez Pereira from Merida completes the men's team, while Genesis Toro, champion of the Bucaramanga 2024 South American Games, makes up the women's list, the Ministry of People's Power for Sports explained.
The schedule will begin with the absolute men's and women's marathon first thing in the morning, 5:45 in the morning, the 10-kilometer under-20 march will follow at 6:15 in the morning, the men's marathon and an hour later the women will start. The schedule will end with the absolute half marathon of the specialty at 10:05 in the morning with the men and an hour later the women will compete.
