The state of Falcón was dressed in red with the traditional Carnation March, to commemorate 41 years since the planting of the “Cantor del Pueblo”, Ali Primera.

Cultivators, writers, social promoters and the people in general came together in one voice to remember that their legacy is still more alive than ever.

“Yiyo your love song continues to ride on the dignity and love of this Venezuelan people who continue with red flowers and a raised fist, demonstrating that your idea will continue to fly, filling us with love for the fight for life,” said the governor of the state of Falcón, Víctor Clark, through his Instagram account.

For his part, the first vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), Pedro Infante, who accompanied the tour of the Falconian streets, emphasized the cultural value of the activity: “Red carnations for Ali: We marched through the streets of Falcón, the birthplace of the town's singer. We are among brothers, with their music and lyrics, a cultural manifestation that reflects the identity and resistance of the Venezuelan people.”

Infante also stressed that, four decades later, the validity of Ali's message remains intact: “41 years later they believe in the necessary song. The idea will always fly!”

The Carnation March was born on the initiative of Carmen Adela de Primera, mother of the singer-songwriter, who at the time of her son's burial in 1985, carried a carnation to the cemetery, a gesture that today is multiplied in thousands of hands.
