The Argentine transport unions announced this Tuesday, October 8, that they will hold a 24-hour national strike on October 30, against the adjustment measures of the government of President Javier Milei, the Russia Today website reported.

He points out that the decision was adopted after a meeting of union representatives, and will affect the service of trains, planes, ships and trucks throughout the country.

For the time being, bus workers, based in the Automotive Tram Union (UTA), will not fold because they are negotiating a wage increase. If so, the transport strike would be total.

The general secretary of the Truckers, Pablo Moyano, told Página/12 that bus drivers are invited to join the measure of force, and that they will talk to the sector in the days leading up to the call.

Moyano assured that there are sufficient reasons to call for a general strike in all sectors, due to inflation, the closure of public hospitals, the repression of retirees, or the budget of universities.

In addition to the demands for increased salaries, among the issues that motivated the transportation strike is the government's threat to privatize Aerolíneas Argentinas, as well as the sanctions applied to pilots who joined the aeronautical strike.
