With an event in homage to singer-songwriter Ali Primera and to Casa Llena, the Venezuelan Trova Festival celebrated its first anniversary last Saturday, February 28, at the Teatro Bolívar in Caracas.

The day began with the screening of a documentary that reviewed the origins of the festival, its national route Town to Town, the second University festival and the Trova festival at Christmas, including interviews with the participating artists, according to the Ministry for Culture.

During the event, several groups and soloists performed, including Colibrí del Chiquero together with Sandino Primera, Oriana Cantora, Leonel Ruíz, Alí Alejandro Primera, Lilia Vera, Willian Alvarado with Dame Pa' Matala and Sol Mussett, interpreting trova songs and author music such as “By Here, By There”, “I Am Conscience”, “Surviving” and “Gracias a la Vida”.

The B11 Ensemble offered a repertoire of calypsos and “Song of Washerwomen”, while the boys and girls of the National Theater Movement César Rengifo closed the day with the bagpipe “In the Solar of My House” and the Song for Latin American Unity.

The festival culminated with all the artists gathered on stage performing for the first time the song “More Harmony”, celebrating the anniversary of TrovaFest and its consolidation as a space for songs with social and auteur content in Venezuela.
