This Thursday, the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, warned of the possible inclusion of Zionist Israeli settler groups on the blacklist of perpetrators of violations against children's rights.

This measure comes after the profound horror expressed by the head of the UN at the alarming increase in documented abuses against Palestinian children, data that have been reflected in the last annual report presented by the international organization.

The report reveals a critical situation at the global level, recording 38,558 serious violations that directly affected 24,174 minors, which represents the highest number since 1996. This sustained increase in violence against children in various global conflicts has set off alarm bells for the international community, which is seeking more severe mechanisms to guarantee the protection of minors in war zones.

Within this complex landscape, the occupied Palestinian territories led the record of violations against children during the year 2025. According to official figures from the agency, the impact of the conflict resulted in the death of 2,668 Palestinian children in Gaza, while in the West Bank the figure reached 57 minor deaths, underlining the disproportionate vulnerability of the child population in these areas under occupation.

Faced with this reality, the UN maintains that accountability is essential to curb the impunity of those responsible for these acts. The possibility of sanctioning the groups involved through a blacklist responds to the urgency of adopting concrete measures to protect the integrity of minors and ensure compliance with international humanitarian law in territories affected by violence.
