The United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) warned of the increase in child hunger in the Gaza Strip, where more than one million children suffer from malnutrition due to the attack imposed by the Israeli authorities and the blockade of humanitarian aid.

In its most recent evaluation, the agency showed that the situation in the Palestinian territories worsened between March and June, when cases of malnutrition in children under five years of age increased dramatically.

In the months since then, UNRWA has performed nutritional evaluations in nearly 74,000 of its hospitals, identifying nearly 5,500 children with severe acute malnutrition and more than 800 children at greater risk.

According to what was published on the Telesur web portal, the agency ordered the lifting of the blockade and the immediate establishment of humanitarian channels to guarantee the flow of food, medical supplies and other essential supplies to citizens.
