The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has issued a serious warning about the impact of the intensification of fighting in Lebanon. The organization reported that, on average, eleven children are killed or injured every 24 hours as a result of constant Israeli bombardments in the region.
This worrying figure maintains an upward trend while the humanitarian crisis in the country is rapidly deteriorating. Basic infrastructure and essential services have been seriously compromised, leaving the civilian population in a situation of extreme vulnerability to the advance of hostilities.
The education sector has suffered significant collateral damage, forcing numerous public schools to be transformed into makeshift shelters for thousands of displaced families. This prolonged interruption of teaching not only affects learning, but it aggravates the precariousness of children who already lack safe environments.
Experts from the organization warned of the deep and lasting psychological consequences that this conflict is leaving on an entire generation. Faced with this scenario, UNICEF urgently calls on all parties involved to prioritize child protection and mitigate the trauma affecting the country's future.
