This Thursday, the Confederation of Organizations of State Officials (COFE), in Uruguay, began a 24-hour strike in rejection of the new licensing regime in the public administration that will be implemented by the Government of Luis Lacalle Pou.

According to information detailed by Telesur, the changes that attract the greatest popular rejection are the intention of the Executive Branch to cover 100 percent of the salary up to the tenth day of medical leave taken in the year, and after that time it will cover only 75 percent of the salary.

The president of COFE, Martín Pereira, indicated that all unions are participating in the strike, so several services will stop working.
