In a statement, the Anti-Fascist International for a New World: Uruguay Chapter expressed its solidarity with Venezuela by strongly rejecting the infamous opinions of Mario Lubetkin against our country.

“In response to the statements made by Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin to a Spanish newspaper, the International Anti-Fascist Uruguayan Chapter rejects the ignorance of the government of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and of the competent Venezuelan bodies: the National Electoral Council, the Supreme Court of Justice and, in short, of the Venezuelan State as a whole,” said the statement shared by the Sectorial Vice President of Communication, Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ñáñez, in his Telegram channel.

In addition, in the text, the Anti-Fascist International specified that the statements of its foreign minister contradict the best Uruguayan diplomatic practices, which have historically been based on respect for the sovereignty of peoples.

For this reason, it makes a necessary call for Uruguay to reaffirm its attachment to historical principles and to adopt a position consistent with its diplomatic tradition, unambiguously recognizing the legitimacy of the government of Nicolás Maduro and rejecting any attempt at destabilization promoted from abroad.
