At the Venezuelan diplomatic headquarters in the Russian Federation, Ambassador Jesús Salazar Velásquez received the Deputy Foreign Minister of Abkhazia, Odyssey Mikhailovich Bigvava, in a meeting that reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to cooperation and mutual respect.

During the meeting, Bigvava thanked Venezuela for its presence at the inauguration of President Badra Gumba in April, highlighting the Venezuelan Government's constant support for his country, according to the website of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic.

Venezuelan diplomacy, in turn, confirmed the importance of maintaining solid bilateral relations, recalling the historic recognition of Abkhazia by Commander Hugo Chávez.

Both representatives agreed on the need to strengthen the union between peoples as a mechanism of resistance to international challenges.

In this regard, the importance of self-determination and sovereignty as pillars of collaboration between the two nations was highlighted.

The Abkhaz Deputy Minister recognized the support of the Venezuelan people for the cause of Abkhazia and valued the legacy of historic leaders such as Simon Bolivar and Hugo Chávez, who promoted principles of independence and self-determination that are still in force today.

The delegations expressed their interest in expanding cooperation in various areas, through ties of friendship to promote joint initiatives for mutual development such as history, culture, health, and others.

This meeting reinforces the commitment of both nations to building solid and strategic diplomatic relations.
