The National Institute for Socialist Training and Education (INCES), in coordination with the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Belize, is developing a project to produce organic fertilizer and bioinputs.
The project takes place during the months of April and May at the facilities of the academic institution and has had a very positive impact, both on teachers and on students studying agronomy.
According to a press release from the Venezuelan embassy in Belize, with the objective of verifying the progress of the program, Ambassador Gerardo Argote, made a field visit to the agricultural center “Central Farm”, where he confirmed the satisfaction of students and the university with the product produced: compost or organic fertilizer, a mixture of ingredients that is used as a vegetable fertilizer and improves the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil.
Training, both for students and for agronomy specialists who work at the University of Belize, is essential for agricultural development and the strengthening of food sovereignty in the Central American country; at the same time, it generates a productive chain that will favor this house of studies, since it will allow participants to be producers of organic fertilizer for sale to local producers.
