Ahead of the upcoming celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and the People's Republic of China, the Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Tatiana Pugh received the accredited ambassador to Venezuela, Lan Hu.
The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, was conducive to reviewing the road map for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and China, as well as the work agenda that these nations are developing for the benefit of both peoples.
This meeting reaffirms the willingness of China and Venezuela to advance and strengthen their ties of friendship and cooperation, which began on June 28, 1974, and which in 1975 would make way for minimal commercial and energy cooperation.
It was in 1999, with the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez to the Presidency of the Republic, that China-Venezuela relations acquired a strategic character; allowing the signing of 31 new bilateral agreements in the XVII China-Venezuela High Level Joint Commission (CMAN), developed in September during the trip of President Nicolás Maduro.
