The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported that this Thursday, July 11, he held a meeting via video conference with the Attorney General of Colombia, Luz Adriana Camargo and two of her directors.
In his account on the social network X, he explained that international criminal cooperation mechanisms were proposed, for the exchange of information about the statements made through a video by a Colombian paramilitary group, who reported having been contacted by sectors of the Venezuelan extreme right, to destabilize the country.
At that meeting, he specified that it was agreed to send mutual legal assistance, where the Public Ministry of Venezuela may, in that letter, request the practice of different procedures, such as locating and identifying persons, transferring persons detained for the purpose of appearing as witnesses, delivery of documents, any other form of assistance, as long as it is not incompatible with the laws of the Colombian State and the possibility of a Venezuelan prosecutor going to Colombia to gather information.
In addition, explore the creation of a joint research team, which allows, through a specific instrument held between the two Public Prosecutors, to form a framework of cooperation and coordination stable over time to carry out investigations in the territory of one or both countries.
