In order to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, authorities from both nations placed a wreath before the sarcophagus that holds the mortal remains of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, in the National Pantheon of Caracas. The protocol activity was led by the Deputy Minister for Africa of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yuri Pimentel; the Venezuelan ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, Ana Pino Pasquier and her Equatorial Guinean counterpart accredited in Caracas, Marcos Ndong Edu Nchama. During the ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, the authorities presented the wreath as a tribute to the Liberator and then signed the attendance book for the venue. Caracas and the City of Peace established diplomatic relations on May 7, 1981. In December 2024, Minister Yván Gil and his counterpart Simeón Oyono Esono Angué led the celebration of the Second Joint Cooperation Commission, which culminated in the signing of 29 agreements for the promotion and development of both nations, in areas such as agriculture, energy, tourism, construction, economy and finance, artificial intelligence, audiovisual production, health, transport and mining.
