The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Raúl Cazal, and the ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua in Venezuela, Isidro Rivera Guadamuz, held a friendly meeting to establish an agenda for exchange and agreements in cultural matters, which will be strengthened in future technical work tables.
Minister Cazal said that Venezuela “is open to cooperation and cultural exchange,” which is why the formalization of bilateral agreements was evaluated.
He emphasized that both nations have enormous potential in cultural matters, so he pointed out that “the idea is to find our identities and promote them”.
He also recalled that the union between the two countries has deep roots and recalled the Venezuelans who fought alongside the revolutionary leader Augusto César Sandino in defense of Nicaraguan sovereignty, thus forging a common history of resistance.
For his part, Ambassador Rivera Guadamuz stated that his visit seeks to strengthen the relationship between sister peoples. In addition, he stressed that for the co-presidents of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega and his wife Rosario Murillo, it is important to “know and learn more about cultural management in Venezuela. For those of us who love the culture, art and identity of our native peoples, this is a key aspect for a nation.”
The diplomat pointed out that, after overcoming various historical challenges, Nicaragua is now on a path of growth, where culture is fundamental, and cited as an example the creation of Houses of Culture and museums throughout its territory.
The Deputy Minister of Image and Space Arts, Mary Pemjean, also participated in the meeting, who presented an assessment of the national scene in terms of museums and crafts, to name a few aspects.
Within the framework of relations between the two nations, on May 4, on the occasion of the Day of National Dignity of Nicaragua, the embassy of that country will honor the Liberator Simon Bolivar with a floral offering in the National Pantheon. In the same way, on May 18, the 131st anniversary of the birth of General Augusto Sandino will be commemorated with various cultural activities, including the creation of an artistic mural.
