In the continuation of his agenda of bilateral meetings in the Republic of Uganda, home of the XIX Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (MNOAL), the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, spoke this Saturday with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Soltan bin Saad Al- Muraikhi, with whom he reviewed the bilateral agenda in order to strengthen cooperation ties.

The meeting made it possible to convey the greetings of their respective heads of state and to reiterate solidarity in the multilateral context.

Both diplomats previously met in Caracas at the end of September 2023, during the visit to Venezuela of the senior Qatari official to strengthen ties of bilateral cooperation and ratify the bonds of mutual friendship between their peoples.

Venezuela and Qatar have transcended their relations, with regard to the high-level visits of President Nicolás Maduro Moros to Doha in June 2022, when a new phase opened for oil, gas and food production cooperation; and of the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, to Venezuela, in March 2023.

On September 20, 2023, in New York, Minister Gil met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, with the strategic objective of strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Qatar began on May 24 , 1973, and were later promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez, starting in 1999; a vision that President Maduro maintains and consolidates.
