Venezuela and Russia strengthen collaboration in the agricultural sector with the signing of a cooperation agreement

The Minister of People's Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, reported this Tuesday that a memorandum of understanding was signed with Russia with the objective of increasing collaboration in the agricultural sector.
“Cooperation between Venezuela and the Russian Federation is strengthened by the agreement signed to promote scientific research, development and innovation activities in sustainable agriculture,” said the minister in her account on the social network X.
During the meeting, a technical agenda was agreed that includes cooperation between universities, schools of Agronomy, Engineering, producers, peasant movements and agro-industry, in order to strengthen the productive capacities of the Venezuelan nation.
The Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Castro and the Minister of University Education, Sandra Oblitas Ruzza, were present in Venezuela, while on the Russian side, the rector of the University of the North Caucasus, Dr. Dmitry Nikolaevich Bspalov.
The minister valued that increasing collaboration in research and training in the agricultural sector with Russia is essential to foresee future times, under the consequences of climate change, inequalities and contextual difficulties.
He also supported the usefulness of the technological transfers provided to respond to the defense of soils, the survival of seeds, protectionism in terms of the spread of insects and pests, as well as to guarantee a healthy diet for the nation, which enables the promotion of health.
