Venezuela and Suriname draw up a road map to strengthen bilateral cooperation and air connectivity

The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, after a day of work with the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, and Foreign Minister of Suriname, Melvin Bouva, in Caracas, reported that they designed a road map to move forward in the coming weeks in a joint commission to be able to specify all the cooperation discussed.
Speaking to the media, Gil explained that they addressed cooperation plans in fisheries, agriculture, tourism, energy, as well as maritime and air transport.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister emphasized the historic ties and deep brotherhood that unite Suriname and Venezuela, noting that Minister Bouva's visit marks the beginning of a period of renewed dynamism in diplomatic relations.
“We have a long history of cooperation. Both presidents have maintained close contact since taking office in the President of Suriname, consolidating a brotherhood,” he said.
He also said that the Bouva visit marks the start of a new phase that will result in concrete progress in the coming weeks.
Minister Gil announced that soon news is expected regarding air connectivity: “Work is being done on the reactivation and establishment of commercial connections Caracas - Paramaribo and Porlamar - Paramaribo, thus promoting tourism and commercial exchange,” he said.
Gil thanked the Surinamese delegation for their visit, ratifying their mutual commitment to consolidate South American and Caribbean unity. “Soon we'll see you in Paramaribo to continue reaping the fruits of this joint effort,” he concluded.
