The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Tuesday with the resident coordinator of the United Nations (UN) in Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla, to strengthen cooperation with the multilateral entity “in a framework of respect for sovereignty”.

Through his social networks, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister explained that they also talked about threats from the United States (USA) against Latin America and the Caribbean, a region “declared a Zone of Peace in 2014 by CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States), a recognition ratified by the United Nations”.

In this regard, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, Gil requested “the support of the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, to restore wisdom”, so he shared with Rampolla “concerns about the deployment of military units and even nuclear weapons by the United States in the Caribbean, threatening peace”.

“Faced with false narratives, a pretext to justify aggressions against Venezuela, we confirm that the World Drug Report 2025 of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC) has ratified Venezuela as a territory free of illicit crops. In addition, the efforts of the Bolivarian Government have been duly certified by the UNDOC,” said the diplomat.
