The president of the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (Idenna), Soraida Ramírez Osorio, ratified to Ibero-American countries Venezuela's firm commitment to the defense and guarantee of the Rights of Children and Adolescents (NNA), through the implementation of cutting-edge public policies and support plans focused on community participation and active listening to the NNA themselves.

Ramírez Osorio spoke this Wednesday, April 29, at the XIII Ibero-American Ministerial Meeting on Children and Adolescents, held in Zamora, Spain, where, in addition to Venezuela, representatives of the countries that make up the Ibero-American Community of Nations also met.

During her speech, the president of Idenna referred to the imposition of more than a thousand Unilateral Coercive Measures (MCU) against the Venezuelan people, stressing their harmful effects on all age groups in the country, especially on Venezuelan children and adolescents.

However, according to a press release, he pointed out that, in this adverse scenario, the governing system for the protection of NNA has redoubled its efforts, together with various institutions of the Venezuelan State, to strengthen the system of protection for children and adolescents, within the framework of the provisions of the Organic Law for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (LOPNNA).

In his words, Ramírez Osorio also warned of the risks posed to children and adolescents by the growing threats and crimes that multiply in digital environments, stressing the importance of working together for all countries in the region to work together to design and implement public policies that involve joint actions in this area, based on international cooperation.

President Ramírez also highlighted the efforts being made in Venezuela to strengthen the country's educational programs, promoting school initiatives such as “scientific seedbeds” and the centers of the Children's and Youth Orchestra System, which are part of the Venezuelan program known internationally as “The System”.

In the same way, Soraida Ramírez highlighted the joint work that Idenna has been carrying out with the institutions of the Venezuelan State to strengthen the protection system for children and adolescents, stressing that, at present, the regulations of the Special Law for the Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Abuse against Children and Adolescents are being developed.

The president also announced that Idenna is making progress in implementing the Sectorial Plan “More love, together we can, together we are family”, focused on family values with an approach focused on the promotion of Human Rights and, especially, on the Rights of Children.

Regarding this plan, Soraida Ramírez highlighted the inter-institutional nature of the plan and the implementation methodology that guarantees the active participation of the communities involved. “Soon, the plan will be consulted by our children and adolescents, so that they, through their voice and participation, will allow us to express their impressions and recommendations in this initiative.”

Finally, he referred to the social approach plan that has been carried out in the most vulnerable sectors of the country to combat violence, highlighting - in the Venezuelan case - the good results of the substantial reduction in acts of violence, in part, he said, thanks to the collaboration of the entire governing system in the area of Children's Rights and the “active listening” methodology that he referred to: “it allows us to be closer to our childhood and our
