Venezuela became India's third largest crude oil supplier this month, surpassing historic competitors such as Saudi Arabia and the United States (USA) As reported by The Economic Times, the rise of the Caribbean country responds to a strategic shift in Indian refineries in the international energy market.

The determining factor of this advance has been the competitive price of Venezuelan oil, which is significantly cheaper than that of other global producers. Refineries in the Asian nation increased their purchases of heavy crude oil to optimize their processing costs in a context of high volatility and tight refining margins.

This increase in acquisitions comes amid strong disruptions in global energy markets, which have altered traditional supply flows. Faced with the instability of transit routes and changes in geopolitical dynamics, India has chosen to diversify its sources to ensure its energy security.

With this position, Venezuelan crude oil regains key ground in the Asian market, consolidating India as one of its main commercial destinations. The movement redefines the Asian giant's supplier map and opens a new phase in commercial and energy exchange between Caracas and New Delhi.
